Changing

Colton 7 weeks old...January 2009

3 1/2 years old.....June 2012

A little big for this huh? Someone thought it was funny to lay up there like he used to.
Tonight I officially started clearing out what used to be our guestroom closet to make room for the new baby! I had lots of my old clothes and all of our extra blankets/sheets in there. Time for a garage sale I think!! Tomorrow we have our 21 week ultrasound....and as most of you know, we will not be finding out if we will be buying pink or using Colton's blues- as much as I would love to be prepared (and only have to pick out 1 name), all of the anticipation really is fun!

They sure grow fast don't they?

Father's Day 2012

Keeping with Portsmouth tradition we headed to the Portsmouth ball park for Father's Day.  Mike had a game at 1:00 and then everyone stays afterwards to hang out and drink, eat, play bags and catch up.

Colton took the chance to show his dad just how much he loves him........
Nothing says "Happy Father's Day Daddy" like getting hit with a water balloon!

I didn't take my camera, so I didn't get a chance to capture a nice picture of Colton and Mike like I wanted to!

There was a hot dog eating contest, root beer floats, dollar hot dogs/beers, water balloon toss and a nickel toss. They threw lots of nickels all around the pitchers mound and let the kids loose after them....

I think we all had lots of fun and were wiped out when we got home around 7:30. Colton took his bath and was out...that is what I call a successful day!!

Weekend Recap

Friday night Colton and I headed to Marshalltown to hang with my family for the weekend.  The ride there took FOREVER...45 minutes longer than usual due to the heavy rain we ran into.  We stopped once for about 10 minutes and then continued on when it let up a little, but everyone was only going about 35-40 on the interstate.

Saturday morning my Mom had to work until noon and my Dad was out mowing, so Colton and I went to breakfast.  He said he wanted pancakes... I asked him where we should go, his answer "Taco Johns."  Taco Johns is always his answer to where he wants to eat-- no matter what type of food it is. Crazy boy!

After Perkins we headed to the park to burn off some energy. It was the perfect morning- sunny and warm, but not too warm. He had a blast!

We went back to my parents do let him do some more playing outside...this time swimming!

After swimming snack

We rounded out our day by doing some shopping and then eating some pizza at Zenos.. a late birthday celebration for me since we weren't able to go the last time we were back.

Sunday morning we got up bright and early to head back home to celebrate Father's Day with Mike.  That post to come next! :)

Baseball and a black eye

Whew....Summer sure is here!! We've been enjoying the warm weather each night with lots of time outside playing baseball, Colton riding his bike and watering the garden...lots since it is so dry! We are thankful for the warm weather but sure could use a few rainy days!

I am now 18 weeks pregnant- crazy how fast this time around is going! I haven't taken a belly picture yet, mostly because either it will be me taking it of myself or Colton trying to attempt to capture me, yet alone my growing belly since Mike is busy working out in the fields.  I hope to do one soon.

Colton reminds me often my belly is getting big. He is going to be such a good big brother... he is very excited and loves to practice with the new baby that started at Dian's recently.  I walked in yesterday while Dian was rocking the baby to sleep and found Colton in his own rocker, rocking a doll to sleep while letting it use his blankie. So cute :)

We went to a grill out Memorial Day weekend and Colton ended up with this....
his first black eye!

Above was the morning after and below was a few days after.

Poor guy was playing with his friend and happened to get too close while his friend was swinging a baseball bat.  Luckily, it was just a black eye and nothing else! My stomach dropped instantly- this was the first thing that has happened to him other than little things.  I am sure it is not last time I will get that feeling having a son!  Especially one that is scared of nothing and always is going.

The scene at our house nightly..... throwing the ball up and hitting it up the hill. I should count some time how many trips he makes up and down that a night. If only I had that much energy :)
